Michael Annett Receives Boost from HYPE Energy Drink for NASCAR Nationwide Debut
MOORESVILLE, NC (11-12-2008) - Often in life, you need just a little extra boost to help you achieve your goals. For twenty-two year-old Michael Annett, his first foray in the NASCAR Nationwide Series this weekend at Homestead Miami
Speedway will pack a little extra kick thanks to Hype Energy Drinks. All three of the unique Hype flavors (Hype Energy, Hype MFP, and Hype Enlite) contain superior ingredients, natural flavors, B vitamins and a potent formula of caffeine, guarana,
ginseng, and taurine. Annett's No. 03 Germain Racing Toyota Camry will carry the race-ready carbon fiber look found on the can of the company’s powerful formula - Hype MFP.
"I am extremely excited about our new venture to bring Hype Energy Drinks into NASCAR with Michael Annett and Germain Racing," stated Hype Energy Drink CEO and former Le Mans winner Bertrand Gachot. "I saw a lot of determination in
Michael’s eyes the first time that we met and I am confident that he will provide us with success both on and off the track."
HYPE Energy Business Development Manager Steve Einhaus echoed Gachot's sentiments, "I have known Michael since he competed in ASA and we are all proud that he has already made it this far in his career. His outgoing personality, strong
work ethic, and natural talents make for a winning combination not only for himself but also his sponsors and team. As we continue to build our brand in the United States to match its success abroad, all of us at Hype are looking forward to sharing
our great tasting products and passion for motorsports with the NASCAR community."
This weekend's "Ford 300" will be Annett’s first attempt at the NASCAR Nationwide Series and at the 1.5-mile oval of Homestead Miami Speedway. The talented, young Hawkeye native burst onto the scene with a dominating victory at
Talladega Superspeedway in 2007 with a performance that gave Toyota their historic first win in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. After repeating with another win at Daytona International Speedway in the 2008 season opener, Annett competed in a
limited ARCA RE/MAX Series’ schedule and selected NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events where he posted a career- best 2nd place finish at Kentucky Speedway.
"Having this opportunity to compete in the Nationwide Series with Toyota, Bob Germain, Mike Hillman, Jr., and everyone at Germain Racing is a huge milestone for me," commented Annett. "But to be able to share the experience with Hype Energy
at Homestead is exciting. Bertrand (Gachot) and Steve (Einhaus) have decades of experience in motorsports and many accomplishments, so their confidence in our team and me is a great feeling. I am representing a product I rely on for an
extra boost, a powerhouse manufacturer, and an amazing team that knows how to put everything together to deliver excellence - I am really excited!"
Germain Racing has prepared chassis number GR-302 under the watchful eye of crew chief Mike Hillman, Jr., for Annett. This particular Toyota Camry finished fourth in its last appearance that saw Todd Bodine behind the wheel at Darlington in
May. It will be a busy weekend for the Germain Racing team as this final event of the 2008 NASCAR season will mark Annett’s series' debut while Mike Wallace currently has the No. 7 GEICO Toyota Camry ranked 8th in Nationwide
championship standings and Todd Bodine’s Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra is cemented in 3rd for Craftsman Truck Series' points.
"With the experience that we have as an organization here at Germain Racing and Michael's talents, we feel that we have a great opportunity to let the No. 03 Hype Energy Drink Toyota Camry shine at Homestead," added crew chief Mike Hillman,
Jr. "I am ready excited to work with Michael. He is an energetic, young competitor who already has proven success at 1.5- mile tracks in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series."
The 200 circuits of the “Ford 300” NASCAR Nationwide Series' race are scheduled to begin Saturday, November 15, 2008, at 4:30p.m. ET. The cameras of ESPN2 will catch all of the racing action and provide a live telecast beginning at 4:00p.m.
